Tsion has a public health research background, focusing on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Her expertise spans both quantitative and qualitative research methods, supported by a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, as well as a bachelor’s degree in public health.
She has gained extensive work experience through various health-related projects in Ethiopia. In addition to her professional work, Tsion is a volunteer member of the Research Ethics Committee (REC) in the West of Scotland, where she reviews research studies to ensure ethical standards are upheld.
Currently, Tsion is pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Glasgow, concentrating on the mental health of pastoralist communities in the context of climate change and the loss of livestock. Her research takes a transdisciplinary approach, collaborating with anthropologists and veterinary epidemiologists to investigate the impact of climate variability on mental well-being.
