Margaret Ojeahere

Dr Margaret Ojeahere is a consultant psychiatrist and head of the telepsychiatry unit in Jos University Teaching Hospital, Plateau State, Nigeria. Margaret’s research interests span across psychiatry epidemiology, global mental health, bioethics, digital mental health, psychosocial interventions, psychogeriatrics and the intersection between climate change, trauma and mental health particularly among vulnerable populations. Margaret’s research portfolio includes over 39 publications with robust collaborations and presentations at several local, regional, and international fora and she is a member of editorial boards of local and international journals. Dr Ojeahere served as the first general secretary of the Association of Early Career Psychiatrists in Nigeria from 2020 to 2023. She is a member of several local and international professional bodies such as the Medical Ethics Society of Nigeria (MESN) and a member of the leadership council of the conflict management and conflict resolution section of the World Psychiatric Association. Margaret is a recipient of awards such as the “Young Investigator Award of the World Federation for Psychotherapy; Fellowship Award of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (JSPN); Travel Award at the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (GFBR); Fellowship for the WPA World Congress of Psychiatry; and the Early Career Investigator-International of the Society of Biological Psychiatry (SOBP). Margaret is a medical writer, mental health influencer and producer of short films that promote climate change, mental health and elimination of associated stigma. When she is not working, raising advocacy, training or organizing community activities. She is gardening, and/or creating memories with her family.
