Myriam Laconi

Dr. Myriam R. Laconi is a biologist, received her PhD from the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina. She completed internships in Belgium, Chile and at the National Institute of Health in Washington. She is a professor of Biology and Physiology in the Bioengineering program at UM. She is the founder of the Clinical Research Specialist Program at the UM School of Medical Sciences. She received her doctoral training from the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and adquires her post doctoral expertise in the Instituto de Medicina y Biologia Experimetal de Cuyo (IMBECU). She worked for the pharmaceutical industry for several years, being involved in quality control processes and regulatory aspects of clinical protocols. As a permanent researcher, Dr Laconi has metored several undergraduate and graduate students. Dr Laconi is currently member of National and Local Committee on Research Ethics and of the Provincial Bioethics Council. Dr Laconi is one of the authors of the Mendoza Clinical Pharmacological Research Law. She is a director of Research in Science and Technology (Ministry of Health). She also directs the Ovarian Pathophysiology Laboratory of IMBECU where several lines of basic and preclinical research. Her team has received local and international recognition for its scientific productions (Italy 2024, Dublin 2024). The lines of research are based on the study of the neuroendocrine actions of neurosteroids on different reproductive parameters in murine, bovine and human models. Now, a doctoral thesis is being developed on the effects of these substances on ovarian cancer and the development of image analysis software with artificial intelligence tools for the study of ovarian structures.
