Sonya M. S. Azab, M.B.B.CH, MSc, MD is a professor of forensic medicine and toxicology, the director of UNESCO Chair on Bioethics, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, Cairo; and member of National Committee of Social and Human Sciences - Egyptian National Commission for UNESCO.
She has established the National Network of Bioethics, Egypt. She had a project funded by UNESCO to develop code of ethical use of AI technologies in Egypt. She has authored several articles in forensic medicine, medical ethics and toxicology; and has participated in several national and international conferences.
She is a visiting fellow to Institute for Medical Ethics and History of Medicine, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany (November 2016) and Ethox Centre, Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of oxford, UK (September - October 2018). She is an affiliate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA in the field of injury prevention research (2013).
Dr. Azab is a member in the Arab Union of Forensics and Toxicology (AUFT), the International Association of Law and Forensic Sciences (IALFS), Arab Society of Clinical and Criminal Toxicology, Egyptian Society of Anthropological Sciences and Egyptian Society of Natural Toxins.
