Rieke van der Graaf is an associate professor of Bioethics at the University Medical Center Utrecht, Netherlands. She has a research interest in bioethics, research ethics and global health ethics. She is head of the Department of Bioethics and Health Humanities in Utrecht and co-Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Bioethics, Utrecht. She is the scientific writer of the 2016 CIOMS International Ethical Guidelines for Health-related Research Involving Humans and the 2021 WHO/UNAIDS Ethics guidelines for HIV prevention trials. She leads a project for WHO on the value of current and future lives in health research priority setting, studying the role of moral discounting, intergenerational justice and fair innings in this debate.
