Dr. Guímel Peralta is a Medical Doctor specializing in Internal Medicine, with a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Management. He is from Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and currently serves as Professor and Chief of the Internal Medicine Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Central American Technological University (UNITEC). For the past five years, he has held the position of Chief Medical Director at the National Institute of Cardiopulmonary Diseases (INCP). Additionally, he works as a hospital physician during night shifts. Dr. Peralta is a member of the Committee on Ethics and Medical Practice of the Honduran College of Physicians. His areas of interest include health services management, neglected diseases, ethical issues in research, COVID-19, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and artificial intelligence (AI) in medicine. In 2023, Dr. Peralta participated in the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (GFBR) in Montreux, Switzerland, where he presented a paper titled Lack of Research on an Endemic Noncommunicable Disease in Honduras: the case of Mesoamerican Nephropathy (MeN). He also attended the 2022 GFBR in Cape Town, South Africa, focusing on the ethics of AI in Global Health Research.
