Dr. Sajda Khatoon, an emerging researcher at the Centre for Public Health Research, MANT, India, specializes in vector-borne diseases, public health, and evidence synthesis. Her research interests include climate-related severe weather events in the Bay of Bengal area. Her doctoral thesis, completed in 2021, focused on the prevalence of vector-borne diseases within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation area. Dr. Khatoon was also recognized with a national-level fellowship (UGC NET/JRF-SRF, 2015) during her predoctoral research tenure at Jamia Millia Islamia. Her academic grounding in Geography has honed her expertise in the intersection of health geography and well-being, particularly emphasizing the utilization of GIS in these domains. Dr. Khatoon has published six research papers and is involved in systematic reviews and scoping reviews on tobacco-related diseases and interventions. As the lead author for a National Institute of Health Grant for Case studies, 2024, she has recently submitted the study titled “Understanding the Dynamics of Epidemics Post-Cyclone and Tidal Surge Events in the Bay of Bengal Region” and has garnered a Best Paper Award for a collaborative paper from the HTA in Developing Countries Interest Group, 2023.
